InterAct is a member in good standing
of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
ECFA is an accreditation agency dedicated
to helping Christian ministries earn the public’s trust
through adherence to seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.
Founded in 1979, it is comprised of over 1,100 charitable,
religious, missionary, social, and educational tax-exempt,
nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations.
ECFA’s Standards of Responsible
Stewardship focus on board governance, financial transparency,
integrity in fund-raising, and proper use of charity resources.
Compliance with the Standards is monitored
in three ways. First, all ECFA members must annually submit
membership review information including audited financial statements,
IRS Form 990 (if applicable), salary information, fund-raising
appeals, board composition, changes in organizing documents,
and much more to verify compliance with the Standards. Second,
ECFA conducts on-site field reviews at over 10% of its membership
each year. These field reviews serve to verify the information
submitted in the annual membership review, confirm compliance
with the ECFA membership Standards, and give support to the
member organizations. To date, approximately 750 organizations
have received an on-site review. Third, ECFA responds to complaints
against member organizations. All such complaints are investigated
thoroughly in order to determine possible noncompliance with
the Standards.
ECFA provides several services to
the donor public as well. Disclosure requirements enable donors
to request and receive audited financial statements for all
ECFA members. ECFA’s website contains a membership directory
with selected financial information of all its members, guidelines
for giving, the Donor’s Bill of Rights, and general information
helpful to the giving public. In addition, ECFA staff provides
information to donors on a variety of issues.
Through its publications and services,
ECFA informs its members of current administrative, financial,
fund-raising, legislative, postal, and promotional matters
of common concern.

CrossGlobal Link ….
For more than 90 years, CrossGlobal
Link (formerly the IFMA) has brought together like-minded mission
agencies serving evangelical Christians who believe Jesus Christ
is Savior and Lord, and who are committed to obeying His command
to take the gospel to all the world. These Christians and the
churches they represent trust CrossGlobal Link member missions
for their integrity - integrity not only in finances, but also
in message, in relationships, and in moral standards.
These standards are critical for the
over 10,000 missionaries from more than 100 agencies who serve
Christ in a world convulsed by war, ethnic division, poverty,
urban decay, AIDS, and the resurgence of opposing militant
religions. In this reality, servants and supporters must be
assured that resources are deployed under the strictest standards
of integrity.
CrossGlobal Link has never deviated
from stringent membership standards. That's why CrossGlobal
Link member missions can be trusted to be true to the Bible,
to the gospel, and to the high moral and ethical demands of
Scripture. The CrossGlobal Link symbol truly is the symbol
of integrity.
Integrity
in Message
The foundation of CrossGlobal Link member missions is first
of all theological and doctrinal. Each mission annually reaffirms
its commitment to the CrossGlobal Link doctrinal statement.
The CrossGlobal Link agency is fully
committed to preach nothing "except Jesus Christ and him
crucified" (I Cor. 2:2). The reason is both clear and
compelling: millions of people around the world are lost in
their sins, without hope, facing eternity without Christ as
Lord and Savior. The central message is "Christ died
for our sins according to the Scripture." (I Cor. 15:3).
Integrity
in Finances
Christians have a right to know that their hard-earned, prayed-over
gifts are wisely invested. Administrative costs, salaries,
and overhead are carefully monitored for consistency with the
mission agency's stated goals and purposes.
CrossGlobal Link has always insisted
on the strictest integrity in all financial dealings. This
includes ethical fund-raising, proper accounting, reliable
receipting and reporting, and responsible audits, available
to all donors.
Each year member missions file a report
with CrossGlobal Link, indicating that they are in compliance
with the association's strict standards including an annual
financial report prepared in conformity with generally accepted
accounting principles. The report must be audited by a chartered
accountant (Canada) or a certified public accountant (U.S.).
Integrity
in Relationships
CrossGlobal Link is not a church nor a denomination, but an
association of interdenominational mission agencies. These
mission agencies, or boards, send missionaries from the broad
spectrum of evangelical churches. The ministries of the agencies
are strengthened as they work with other CrossGlobal Link members
for mutual support and counsel in many strategic matters affecting
the work.
Three key words identify CrossGlobal
Link's stand on relationships: partnership with those who share
basic doctrinal and ministry convictions; fellowship within
the larger body of Christ, and communication with other organizations
for information and education.
Integrity
in Morals
Scripture calls all Christians to accountability in conduct.
Each CrossGlobal Link member mission affirms and practices
biblical standards of holiness. The integrity of the gospel
witness is at stake as the missionary lives before the watching
world.
The CrossGlobal Link symbol assures
Christians that missionaries sent out by a member mission will
be expected to maintain holiness in their marital relations,
in their use of time and money, in their relations with people
in the countries where they serve, and in their personal habits.
Each CrossGlobal Link member mission is expected to hold not
only its missionaries, but its officers and board to these
high standards, as well. Christlikeness is the model for every
level of every CrossGlobal Link member mission.

InterAct Ministries of Canada has earned
the seal of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC)
The Seal of the Canadian Council of
Christian Charities (CCCC) is a mark of excellence and trust.
It indicates the charity adheres to high standards of ethical
and operational standards outlined below. More and more donors
are using the Seal as a guideline to determine who they will
give to.
The standards articulated by CCCC
(below) have general acceptance in the Christian community
and are recognized by agencies in other sectors. They are offered
as an effective means by which a ministry or organization can
become accountable in a demonstrable, recognizable way. At
the same time, donors and potential donors will find the established
standards to be an effective benchmark when evaluating the
worthiness of a ministry.
Ministries displaying
the Seal adhere to these 10 standards: They
- have an independent, active board.
- have an independent audit of their
financial statements.
- will provide their financial statements
to any person upon request.
- have an audit review committee
that reports to the board.
- carry on their activities with
the highest standards of integrity.
- have a declared doctrinal position
expressing a commitment to the Christian faith.
- have a declared stewardship policy
which affirms, among other things, that no person receives
a commission based upon gifts received by the ministry.
- maintain confidentiality of all
information about donors and mailing list addresses.
- respect the privacy of the beneficiaries
of their ministry.
- adhere to a written Code of Ethical
Fundraising and Financial Accountability.

IMCO (Inter-Mission
Cooperative Outreach, http://www.imcomissions.net)
is a partnership of ten mission agencies sharing a common mandate – to
reach Native North American peoples for Christ toward the establishment
of a strong and reproductive Native church. IMCO members consult
with one another, exchange information, and partner with one
another on specific tasks in order to serve Aboriginal people
more effectively.
Since its beginnings in the early
1970s the signature activity of IMCO has been its nearly annual
Ministry Development Program (MDP). MDP is an eight-week microcosm
of living and ministering among people of a different culture.
MDP exists for the development of ministry and interpersonal
skills for maximum effectiveness in fulfilling the Great Commission
through the purpose of each mission agency. The majority of
IMCO agencies, including InterAct Ministries, have over the
years required their new staff to participate in this program
which currently assembles each spring in Timber Bay, SK.
A secondary activity of IMCO has been
its every-fifth-year joint-staff conference. Since 1972 this
conference had provided unique opportunity for IMCO-agency
missionaries to connect with hundreds of other people who identify
with similar goals and objectives. The relationships developed
and strengthened at these conferences have produced considerable
inter-agency and inter-cultural partnering over the past nearly
four decades. |
